Historians of science will vindicate this guy, I think. I just wish he’d been a little friendlier with Maturana and Varela. Perhaps he inherited a chip on the shoulder from Rashevsky, but more likely it’s just hard luck, being the little kid watching the naked emperor’s parade. He across a bit too defensive… but Springer’s just about to release his magnum opus, 2nd edition. Thanks for the photo; I’d never seen one before. Wish I could have met him.
“Historians of science will vindicate this guy, I think.”
– And hopefully Philosophers of Science and (astro)biologists as well!
“I just wish he’d been a little friendlier with Maturana and Varela.”
– I don’t know anything about that, care to fill me in?

Springer about to publish a 2nd edition: that is interesting. Looked it up and saw the book is for sale, but expensive. The good news is the first part can be read on line.
